The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) is the largest veterinary school in the UK. It received the maximum score of 24 out of 24 in an assessment of teaching standards by the Quality Assurance Agency in 2000. In 1999 it also became the first UK veterinary school to be granted approval by the American Veterinary Medical Association. The College is one of the leading veterinary research centres in Europe and in the Research Assessment Exercise conducted in 2001 received a maximum 5 out of 5.It also provides support for the veterinary profession through its three referral hospitals, diagnostic services and continuing professional development courses.
